Equinox Announces Major Features in Evergreen 3.16

Atlanta, Ga., December 8, 2025: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, is pleased to announce Evergreen 3.16, the latest release of the award-winning library software used by more than 1,800 libraries worldwide. Equinox’s development team contributed 8 major features, 6 minor features, and 10 of 32 bugfixes.

Features contributed by Equinox include single sign-on for library staff sponsored by North Carolina Community College Evergreen, built-in integration for Quipu eCARD and eRENEW services supported by the Pennsylvania Integrated Library System, circulation payments which can now be marked nonrefundable backed by the Kenton County Public Library, and the ability to search and display accessibility metadata from MARC bibliographic records, plus additional usability and accessibility improvements with support from the BC Libraries Cooperative.

Equinox also provided in-kind services for Evergreen 3.16 with Galen Charlton, Implementation and IT Manager, serving as Release Manager, and additional staff providing assistance and testing, including Andrea Buntz Neiman, Mike Rylander, Jason Boyer, Jason Etheridge, and Steve Callender.

“It was satisfying to release Evergreen 3.16 during the Evergreen Hack-A-Way in Columbia, Missouri,” said Charlton. “So much of what makes Evergreen significant is its community. At Equinox we are thankful for everyone who played a part in the release and are excited to announce the arrival of this latest version.”

“We are pleased to bring forward highly anticipated features in Evergreen 3.16 such as Staff Single Sign On,” said Andrea Buntz Neiman, Project Manager for Software Development at Equinox. “We have been collaborating with the Evergreen community and with our development partners to make this possible.”

Evergreen 3.16 is the second release for 2025. More detail about Evergreen 3.16 can be found in the release notes here: https://evergreen-ils.org/documentation/release/RELEASE_NOTES_3_16.html
