Atlanta, Ga., July 22, 2025: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, is pleased to announce Q1 and Q2 2026 development and community contributions for Fulfillment and Aspen Discovery.
“Equinox is committed to delivering reliable, high-quality software development that helps libraries better serve their communities,” said Andrea Buntz Neiman, Equinox’s Project Manager for Software Development. “Libraries will have lots to love in Fulfillment 12 and with the Aspen Discovery projects completed by Equinox. From direct library card eRenewal within Aspen Discovery with Quipu to accessibility features in Fulfillment 12, Equinox is proud to bring these updates to the public. We especially want to thank our partners who make this work possible.”
Fulfillment 12
In May, Equinox launched Fulfillment 12, made possible in part through the support of Bibliomation. This latest release features redesigned interfaces and a range of accessibility improvements, including enhanced keyboard navigation, expanded compatibility with assistive devices, and response screen resizing for a more seamless user experience.
Accessibility testing for Fulfillment 12 was conducted by the Center for Inclusive Design and Innovation at the Georgia Institute of Technology, ensuring the platform meets standards for usability.
Equinox completed further Fulfillment development aimed at streamlining key staff interfaces and enhancing the patron request experience. This update will allow users to discover and access titles within Fulfillment when a local search returns limited results. These features will be included in an upcoming release.
Aspen Discovery
Equinox delivered two Aspen Discovery projects for the Pennsylvania Integrated Library System (PaILS), further strengthening Aspen’s integration with Evergreen ILS. The first enables Aspen to display patron-visible notes created within Evergreen, giving patrons greater access to information relevant to their accounts. The second facilitates online account renewal through Quipu eRENEW, offering patrons a more convenient way to keep their accounts up to date.
Both features are expected to be available for libraries later this year.
