Equinox Welcomes Visual Art Library to Koha ILS

Atlanta, Ga., August 15, 2022: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, is pleased to welcome the Visual Art Library of New London, Connecticut to the Koha ILS open source community.

The Visual Arts Library collection includes art books documenting the work of the 20th and 21st centuries from around the world including artist books, biographies, rare books, art journals and ephemera. Their collection encompasses 76,000 bibliographic records. For the migration, Equinox provided Koha ILS support, hosting, implementation, and data implementation services. Remote training was provided by Equinox’s expert staff of degreed librarians.

The Visual Arts Library is committed to preserving artist statements, catalogs, and ephemera that are increasingly at risk of disappearing in the digital era. Their mission is to provide a unique resource to researchers and inspiration for future artists.

“The Visual Arts Library preserves a unique collection of work and Koha now increases access to these important resources,” said Rogan Hamby, Data and Project Analyst at Equinox. “It was an honor to be a part of the project. Koha is a great choice for special libraries and seeking to expand the reach of their their collections.”
