Equinox Presents at the 2023 Missouri Evergreen Users Conference

Atlanta, GA, April 12, 2023: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, is excited to announce that Equinox will be presenting at the 2023 Missouri Evergreen Users Conference. Galen Charlton, Implementation and IT Manager; Erica Rohlfs, Senior Implementation Project Manager; and Jennifer Weston, Product and Education Specialist at Equinox will present at two separate sessions over the course of the two day conference which runs from April 13-14, 2023 in Columbia, Missouri.

Galen Charlton and Erica Rohlfs will be presenting the opening session “Collaborating with Missouri Evergreen: Equinox’s Role” on April 13, 2023 and Jennifer Weston will be presenting a client update as part of the Missouri Evergreen Consortium Business Meeting on April 14, 2023.

“We are looking forward to the Missouri Evergreen Users Conference,” said Galen Charlton, Implementation and IT Manager at Equinox. “It’s a great opportunity to connect with library staff and connect Missouri libraries with Evergreen community resources. Missouri Evergreen is an active and growing community and we’re happy to be in person together for this event.”

Equinox Announces Fulfillment 11 with Koha ILS Connector

Atlanta, Ga., March 23, 2023: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology services for libraries, is pleased to announce the release of Fulfillment 11, the latest release of the open source interlibrary loan software. The release introduces a new connector for Koha ILS, bringing Fulfillment’s powerful resource sharing automation capabilities to libraries utilizing Koha ILS.

“We are delighted to bring Fulfillment 11 to the library community,” said Andrea Buntz Neiman, Project Manager for Software Development. “The new Koha ILS connector allows for full integration, automation, and real time status updates for Koha libraries who use Fulfillment. All of this, plus Fulfillment 11 harnesses the evolution of its sibling Evergreen’s latest versions 3.6 to 3.10. This gives Fulfillment access to features developed along the way such as the new Simple Reporter and the ‘Did You Mean?’ bibliographic based search suggestions. It’s a very exciting update.”

Launched in 2011, Fulfillment facilitates sharing between separate library organizations, uniting collections and information in a combined union catalog. Fulfillment 11 also includes security patches, bug fixes, essential efficiency updates, and other features such as supporting OAI-PMH harvesting of Fulfillment records. Implementing Fulfillment with Equinox includes support from experienced librarians and developers and a transparent, open software development process, including custom training resources and connector options for Fulfillment.

Equinox Welcomes Lena Hernandez

Atlanta, Ga., March 15, 2023: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, is pleased to announce that Lena Hernandez has joined Equinox as Product and Education Specialist.

Lena Hernandez brings more than a decade of experience working in libraries, archives, museums, and galleries, including as Coordinator of Acquisitions at the University of North Florida and Collections Manager and Registrar at the Museum of Science & History in Jacksonville, Florida. She has her Master’s in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University, where she also earned an Advanced Certificate in Strategic Management of Digital Assets. Lena’s Bachelors of Arts is from Eckerd College, where she majored in Religious Studies and minored in Visual Arts and Classical Humanities. Her personal and professional work in public service has situated her well to support communities and libraries moving to a more equitable future with open source technology.

“We are so excited that Lena is joining our team,” said Angela Kilsdonk, Product and Education Manager at Equinox. “Lena’s experience in acquisitions and collections management provides her with the perfect experience to help librarians with similar workflows and challenges. Equinox Welcomes Snow College

Atlanta, Ga., February 27, 2023: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, is pleased to announce that Snow College in Ephraim, Utah (UT) is migrating Koha ILS to Equinox’s Sequoia hosting with Equinox’s support.

Snow College was founded in 1888 by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It currently serves over 5,000 undergraduates. Snow College supports two library branches encompassing 60,810 bibliographic records and 67,314 across two campuses. Their instance of Koha ILS will be hosted on Equinox’s cloud-based platform for library automation services.

Equinox Welcomes Barton County Library to the Missouri Evergreen Consortium

Atlanta, Ga., February 20, 2023: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, is pleased to welcome Barton County Library (MO) to the Missouri Evergreen Consortium with their adoption of Evergreen ILS, an award winning library solution used by more than 1,800 libraries worldwide.

Barton County Library is located in the southwest corner of Missouri and is the only library system in its county, supporting 9,812 patrons and providing access to 39,160 bibliographic records. As part of their migration, Equinox provided implementation and data services including project management, data extraction, deduplication, and record conversion. Training was provided by Equinox’s expert staff.

“Our migration to Missouri Evergreen was incredibly smooth and easy thanks to the support and direction provided by the whole Equinox team,” said Carol Darrow, Director of the Barton County Library. “Equinox’s staff were all extremely helpful throughout the migration process. They were quick to respond to our questions and very patient with us when we had to make numerous decisions. The training we received also helped library staff feel confident about using the new system. We are thrilled to be a part of the Missouri Evergreen Consortium.”

Rogan Hamby, Data and Project Analyst, and Andrea Buntz Neiman, Project Manager for Software Development, will present the latest features and updates to the Fulfillment open source interlibrary loan software. Their presentation, “A Tiny Library with a Million Volumes” will take place at 7:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Fulfillment is an open source resource sharing system which leverages intuitive design and efficient workflows to maximize value and impact for library users. The Connecticut State Library has relied on Fulfillment for statewide resource sharing since 2016, averaging more than 700,000 interlibrary loan items filled annually since implementation.
