Atlanta, Ga., May 18, 2026: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, is pleased to announce that Equinox has joined The Evergreen Project as an Institutional Member.

“Equinox is excited to join The Evergreen Project as one of its very first Institutional Members,” said Mike Rylander, founding developer of Evergreen, and Research and Development Manager at Equinox. “The project’s new membership model builds upon the Evergreen community’s long history of commitment to libraries.”

In 2004, the Georgia Public Library System (GPLS) created the Evergreen Integrated Library System for use across its statewide network of libraries. GPLS later released Evergreen’s code as open source, making it one of the first open source integrated library systems available to libraries. Equinox’s Mike Rylander, and Jason Etheridge, Senior Developer, are two of the original team who developed the Evergreen Integrated Library System prior to their founding of Equinox Software.

In 2016, Equinox Open Library Initiative superseded Equinox Software as a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing open source solutions for libraries. Equinox contributes in-kind support to the Evergreen Project through software development, community leadership, educational resources and more. Since 2023, Equinox has been responsible for 63% of the major features appearing in Evergreen ILS releases.

Atlanta, Ga., May 11, 2026: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, is pleased to welcome the Old Colony Library Network (OCLN) to the Evergreen ILS, Aspen Discovery and Metabase communities with Equinox.

The Old Colony Library Network is a cooperative of 27 member libraries (26 Public and 1 Academic) located on the South Shore of Massachusetts. OCLN’s cooperative nature enables member libraries to provide services that they would not be able to afford on their own. OCLN was founded in 1984 and is incorporated in Massachusetts as a 501(c)3 tax exempt, nonprofit corporation. OCLN is recognized as a charitable organization by the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office.

“The member libraries of the Old Colony Library Network are excited to have partnered with Equinox for support of their Evergreen ILS and Aspen Discovery platforms,” said David Slater, Executive Director of the Old Colony Library Network. “During data migration and staff training, the Equinox team was responsive and provided us with timely information to make informed decisions. We are looking forward to working with Equinox for continued support and to using features in Evergreen and Aspen to improve services to our member libraries and their library patrons.”

OCLN will be utilizing Evergreen ILS, Aspen Discovery, and Metabase, in addition to taking advantage of partnerships Equinox has with Unique Management Services for MessageBee SMS and Backstage Library Works for authority control services.

“We are excited to welcome OCLN to Equinox,” said Rogan Hamby, Data and Project Manager at Equinox. “By combining Evergreen’s robust consortium capabilities with Aspen Discovery’s patron-friendly single search functionality, libraries can deliver seamless resource access with an engaging user experience.”
