Atlanta, Ga., December 17, 2025: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, is pleased to announce that Richland Public Library is utilizing authority control services through a partnership between Equinox and Backstage Library Works.

Equinox is partnering with Backstage Library Works to make authority control easy for libraries. Services from Backstage Library Works include Basefile Authority Control, Current Cataloging, and Authority Control Notification Services. Equinox manages the extracts and retrieval and loading of updated records.

“Implementing Backstage Library Works for our authority control services through our partnership with Equinox was very simple to do with little stress,” said Theresa Barnaby, Technical Services Supervisor at Richland Public Library. “We have been happy with this collaboration, and are impressed by the improved quality of our records. The result has been a catalog that is cleaner and has significantly enhanced our patrons’ ability to access the material they are looking for.”

Richland Public Library was established in 1951 to serve the community of Richland, Washington and its more than 60,000 residents. Since 2012, Richland has relied on Equinox for Evergreen ILS hosting and support.

“Backstage Library Works and Equinox’s partnership takes the pressure off of cataloging for libraries,” said Rogan Hamby, Data and Project Manager at Equinox. “This allows libraries to arrange for workflows that suit them best and frees time and resources for other priorities. We are excited that Richland Public Library will be able to take advantage of Equinox’s relationship with Backstage Library Works.”

Equinox also provided in-kind services for Evergreen 3.16 with Galen Charlton, Implementation and IT Manager, serving as Release Manager, and additional staff providing assistance and testing, including Andrea Buntz Neiman, Mike Rylander, Jason Boyer, Jason Etheridge, and Steve Callender.

“It was satisfying to release Evergreen 3.16 during the Evergreen Hack-A-Way in Columbia, Missouri,” said Charlton. “So much of what makes Evergreen significant is its community.
