Atlanta, GA, August 28, 2025: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, is excited to announce that Galen Charlton, Implementation and IT Manager at Equinox, will present as part of the upcoming Koha-US 2025 Annual Conference in Providence, Rhode Island, being held from September 2, 2025 to September 5, 2025.

Charlton joins Brian Pichman of ByWater Solutions for a panel discussion titled “Impact of AI on Libraries.” The session will cover how generative AI has led to new challenges for web-based library software and how these disruptions can be reduced. It is scheduled for September 5, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. ET.

“AI bot traffic and crawlers are presenting significant operational challenges to many library catalogs,” said Galen Charlton. “I’m looking forward to this discussion as an opportunity to examine the risks AI poses and explore how to preserve the ability of libraries to make their catalogs part of the open web.”

Koha-US’s annual conference brings together libraries and developers supporting Koha ILS to network and brainstorm. The theme for this year’s conference is “All That and More.” Full details about the upcoming conference can be found here: https://koha-us.org/events/conferences/conference2025/.
